The Ultimate Leaf Button
Today has just become a very special day—now that I'm sharing this chunky wonder. Believe it or not, this isn't a dress clip. It's a large Bakelite button with a creamed corn base, which is etched along seven lobes. Piggybacking on the yellow Bakelite sits another component of this glorious find. It's a bulbous green leaf and by "bulbous" I mean very stubby and substantial. This piece is also Bakelite and is carved differently from the base section, accentuating the overall presentation of this truly sensational antique. I've posted many varieties of leaf buttons on this blog and this one is truly among the grandest of the grand. Probably made in the 1930's.
