Meet the Browns!

Let's take a close look at some brown buttons today. Brown Bakelite runs the gamut of tones and here's just a few of them. The color of the top button is a standard chocolate while the button at the lower left is definitely more of a dark chocolate. If it were any darker, we'd call it an espresso button, which verges on black. The button on the lower right side of this photo is brownish green with some black swirling. I'm calling this color "olive brown" since it definitely rides the line between a chocolate tone and moss. Enough about colors, these vintage buttons are stunningly carved! Which one is my favorite? I couldn't even begin to decide. Handsome and heavy, these old coat buttons go back to the 1930's.
