One of the most common mistakes made by fans of Bakelite is the mix-up between the colors creamed corn and butterscotch. That's why I love setting buttons of these colors next to each other, side-by-side for clarification. And now I will school you on what is what: The square button pictured here is creamed corn Bakelite while the circle is butterscotch. More striking than the colors of these buttons are the incredible examples of carved detail. Harking back to the rowdy and carefree days of the 1920's, these spectacular buttons might've fallen straight off of a flapper's party dress.
