It's almost summertime and the days are heating up fast. Here's a big serving of rootbeer to quench your thirst, only this is a rootbeer button. Carved with a crisscross design, it's been titled toward the sun to really show off the texture and the rich dose of golden patina at rest in those sunlit grooves. Rootbeer, of course, is just a nickname for tortoise Bakelite and that's what this button is made of. Circa 1928.
