Curvy Rootbeer

"Shapely" is my word for this glimmering button in visionary, rootbeer Bakelite. The button is large and luscious with four deep slopes that are visible in this photo thanks to the trees outside that you can see reflected in the patches of daylight. I'm intrigued by this button's central carving of five intersecting circles. An unusual button on the whole, it's a slick terrain of lumps and curves, and a hypnotic example of Bakelite's best swirling. Circa 1930.
