Tiki Head
All the buttons I'm posting this week, starting yesterday, have one thing in common aside from being Bakelite: They are all distinctively carved. Today's oblong button is carved into the eyes-nose-mouth anatomy of a Polynesian tiki mask. Hardly a friendly looking character, the face seems to be saying: "What are you lookin' at?" I've seen this button in dark green and black. Mine is maroon and hails from the trinket jewelry craze of the 1930's and 40's.
