Butterscotch vs. Creamed Corn
Since the beginning of this blog, I've been wanting to set two buttons side by side in the colors we Bakelite fanatics call butterscotch and creamed corn. Here we are! The button pictured on the left is a definitive tone of bright butterscotch while the button to the right is a dreamy hue of creamed corn. Both of these delicious colors exude a charm that transcends the word "yellow" (as any bumblebee will tell you).
Their colors aside, these twin roses are superb examples of sculpted Bakelite. All week I've been posting buttons that are especially carved and here's the grand finale. Ridden with deep folds and angled crevices, every petal is buffed for a soft look that gives these flowers a buttery smoothness. They actually look like they could melt in the sun. Classic "flapper style" from the mid 1920's.
