Time has blessed this button immensely with a flattering patina that highlights the carved details of the brown Bakelite in a glow of golden accents. Patina effects every button differently. Sometimes I'll remove the stuff unless it focuses attention to the button's finer details. Here's an ideal example of what you want a hearty smattering of patina to do on Bakelite. Definitely a welcome embellishment.
