Split Pea Superb

Streaked with black veins, this Bakelite button sports a carving of layered folds that culminate with three chicken footprints at its center. How about that? While I call this color moss, some Bakelite collectors refer to this light brownish-greenish tone as split pea soup. In any case, whether it looks like a fancy slab of fungus or a garden-grown veggie, this is without question an old button. Circa 1930.
