The Butterscotch Crown

Here's a button in deep butterscotch Bakelite that's been smoothly styled and cut to resemble a royal headpiece. A kingly statement, the five spikes on this this button do convey the patriarchal majesty of an esteemed ruler's crown. As a nifty touch, there are three spots carved into the design that I imagine represent the "crown jewels." I don't know what kind of garment this old button once decorated, but it wouldn't have been sewn onto any old peasant's shirt. A fun example from the "trinket craze" that popped up in the fashions of the 1930's and 1940's.
