Burgundy, Pressed
With the extra camera lighting I added to this photo, it would appear that this button is maroon. In person, however, it's a true burgundy. The make is Bakelite and the design is "pressed" as opposed to carved. The buttonholes sit in a small hexagon. From there, the button dips into six round hollows followed by fine-combed grooves. A neat design, this button was made in the 1940's.
