The Wildflower

Now here's a major anomaly that's exploding with all kinds of unusual features. While the metal escutcheon is a cluster of tarnished petals that remind me of a rusty chrysanthemum, it's the rest of the button that dazzles this avid collector. As might be expected, it tests positive for Bakelite, but take a look at that unusual color: a sort of chocolate-rootbeer blend with a splash of yellow flecks and dashes. I have never seen a Bakelite button with this mixture of tones. What shall we call this color-combination with its erratic streaks seemingly afloat in a coffee-like brew? Apart from its odd coloring, the button is carved with fifteen semicircles around the brass centerpiece. I think I'm in love with this eccentric wildflower. From the 1930's.
