Bakelite buttons don't get much bigger than this—and here we have one on a vintage card. This sensational green button measures over two inches across. A ginormous gem! My friend Doreen sold me this elongated beauty last month and I do not take such a stunning find for granted. The card, which is obviously original, goes back to the 1930's; and notice the old-timey font spelling "Novelty Button" and the words: Genuine Catalin. Keep in mind that "Catalin" was a brand-name for Bakelite in the olden days. Aside from the incredible size of the button, it sports some noteworthy style as well. The carved lines on this debonair dude are laced with patina. "Made in the U.S.A." What a knockout!
