Glass Meets Bakelite Part 2

Here's another unique button that plants a glass centerpiece on top of Bakelite. In this case the glass is a dark slate tone, cut with a design of nine whirlpools or snails or cinnamon rollsI can't decide, but I do love this unusual shield. Isn't it mysterious? I wish I knew more about glass and its textural diversities. Whereas yesterday's button shows an example of shiny glass, today's piece is more of a rough and dusty tone and almost metallic in appearance. The carving on the chocolate Bakelite is also exquisite. Five dimple-shaped leaves wreathe the glass emblem, giving this button another aspect of distinctive craftsmanship. Truly, a special find.
