Dark Daisy

Normally I would say that a black flower is a dead flower, but let's not trash this licorice daisy. It's a Bakelite button from the 1930's with eight petals cut apart from each other and etched with vein-like details. This button perfectly demonstrates why I like patina. The yellowish residue serves to enrich and highlight the finely carved features on this old beauty. If you own Bakelite, think twice before scrubbing off any dusty film. That dust is the magic of time.
